Lewis & Clark Trail Experience is an interactive travel and heritage platform, which links explorers, history lovers, and communities living along the great Lewis & Clark trail.
Our input was the optimization and development of the interactive mapping and content experience of the platform. We were assigned the task of developing geospatial listing capability and increasing the overall map performance. We also improved the user interface to make sure that it is responsive and accessible on devices.
We have also added editorial content modules and automation of newsletter using Constant Contact. Location based data search and filter workflow have been enhanced. This helped travelers plan routes, explore attractions and tell stories of cultures along the trail.

The platform integrates characteristic digital storytelling and location intelligence. It uses dynamic maps, prepared itineraries, and editorial writing to highlight thousands of attractions, trails, and cultural sites. Combining history, geography and the current internet interactivity, the experience prompts the user to find a meaningful approach to the most iconic expedition in the history of America.
Handled thousands of geospatial listings and had smooth performance and speedy load times. The ability to link editorial stories to map based exploration to make the experience of using the maps more engaging. Allowed local communities to submit content using formal submission processes. Provided a responsive and quick service on both desktop and tablet computers and on tablets. More effective search and filter options to assist users in the search of attractions and routes.

Leaflet and Mapbox were used to create an optimized map based interface. Thousands of listings can be supported without performance problems by the system. Smooth interactions on the map were provided through lazy loading and dynamic tile caching.
We created systems that would relate editorial contents with geospatial directories. Tourists can read about attractions and some related tales and events. This forms a continuous flow of the discovery of travels and historical narrations.
We have created a user submission form through which communities and organizations post their events or attractions. Entries are automatically added to the CMS moderation processes.
